Giveaway & Review: What's in the Bible DVD #10

Our family has been waiting so long for this video!  After nine videos covering the Old Testament, the Good News that has been promised is finally here!  (Read my past reviews on the "What's in the Bible?" videos.)I have to admit that Volume #10 was not as I expected.  This is not a negative but just not what I expected.  Based upon what I had grown to expect from the OT videos, I envisioned the video beginning with Jesus in the manger.  Then Phil taking us through the miracles, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Instead the video begins by explaining the necessity of the 400 year wait period between the OT and NT.  How God's timing is always perfect.  Then the puppets explain what makes up the NT.  After all of this, we dive into the Gospels learning the differences between.  In bridging the OT and NT gap, Phil asks the important question, "How is one man's life a blessing for the whole world?"  And if He is so important, why is the OT needed?

In the second video on this DVD, we learn about the stories in the Gospels starting with the genealogy and the importance of it. Interestingly enough, Christmas as we think of it is almost not covered. The puppets almost immediately jump into Jesus being baptized, tempted, His disciples, the miracles and the parables.

In an amazing way, the puppets and Phil explain how the blood of Jesus is the New Covenant.  How Jesus died in our place because of our sins.  How He rose again and tore the curtain from top to bottom.

I have never heard the Good News of Jesus put so simply yet tie the entire Bible together so well.  At one point, Sweet Pea leaned over to me and said, "I'm about to cry."  This video is powerful.   Yet it doesn't play on your emotions.  It simply explains what Jesus did for each one of us. 

Our family's love for these videos is no surprise to those of you who follow this blog and our ABCJesusLovesMe.com preschool curriculum website.  We own all of these videos and have given them away for gifts because these videos should be in every home.  I truly believe this. Because, no matter what your age, you will learn something about "What's in the Bible."
